Porat Yosef Yeshiva

The history of Porat Yusef.

This school has a long history that you will get acquainted with during your tour in this place where the rabbi Ezra Harari Participated in establishing this place as well as Herreri Rafaal opened a second religious school in 1918.

The other school mixed with Porat Yusef in 1923. This ancient school started its establishment in the year 1914 When Yusef Shalom, a good man from India, came and bought this building near the Holy Land.

The purpose of this building was to build a hospital, but this hospital was converted into a religious school. The Building this school is long overdue because of the First World War and after a long time this place was opened in 1923.

Destruction and rebuilding of Porat Yusef.

During the 1948 war between Israel and the Arab armies the school building was attacked and the school was destroyed. After the war ended in 1949, another school was established in the Geola neighbourhood, and after the Six Day War in 1967, the architect Moshe Safadi designed a new university vineyard on the site. The design of this new building is the same as the old one that maxed the old and the modern design.

Now there are two branches of this school and it is wonderful that the new building is similar to the original design of the old building and mixes between the old and the modern. You will notice that the walls of this school are stone walls that have a wonderful colour and texture.
