The beautiful Tomb of Mohammed Shah Aga Khan is of the 48th Imam (leader) of the Ismaili sect During his lifetime he played a big role in the partition of India and creation of Pakistan He was also father in law of the famous actress Rita Hayworth. Aga Khan used to winter in Aswan for his health and was buried here after his death in 1957.

His 4th wife the French woman Yvonne Labrousse also known as Begum Om Habibeh died in 2000 and is buried with him. The family’s white villa is beneath the tomb in the garden Begum was known for her charitable work and the Om Habibeh Foundation continues her work by improving healthcare in Aswan.
