Al Azhar Mosque

Built in 970 AD as the heart of the new Fatimid city, Al-Azhar mosque is one of Cairo’s oldest mosques and the Sheikh is the highest authority for Egyptian Muslims. The building is a mix of architectural styles having been added over 1,000 years ago. The tomb chamber is found through the door on the left just inside the entrance and should not be missed.
