Cheops Boat Museum
Cheops Boat Museum
Just south of the Great Pyramid of Khufu is the Solar Boat Museum, which contains amazing exhibits: one of the five solar boats of Khufu that were discovered in 1954. This ancient wooden boat, perhaps the oldest in the world, was restored from 1,200 pieces of Lebanese cedar wood and is housed in this museum for preservation. It can be visited through the Egypt pyramid tour packages to enjoy more and see the Sphinx, a legendary statue with the body of a lion and the head of a human, and the Saqqara Pyramid, the first Egyptian pyramid with six mastabas built on top of each other.
Historical significance
Five large pits have been found near the Great Pyramid of Khufu, each containing a solar boat. These boats were used to transport the pharaoh’s mummy across the Nile to the Valley Temple, where it was carried through the passage to the tomb chamber. After being used, they were buried around the pyramid to be the means of transporting the pharaoh in the afterlife. If you like to take a tour in complete peace and privacy, you can do so through Egypt private tours because they guarantee you to explore more historical information about this place.
The Solar Boat
The boat in the museum has been reassembled to its original condition. You are asked to wear shoes to help preserve this ancient wonder by not bringing sand into the museum. You can experience this for yourself through All inclusive Egypt vacations because they include all trips.
