The Pyramid of Khafre, the second pyramid in Giza, appears larger than the first, the Pyramid of Khufu, due to its higher elevation and the fact that it has its original top with a polished limestone casing. The three pyramids were once covered with this smooth white stone that beautifully reflected the sun's rays. Over time, most of this casing was removed for another construction and the inner core stones were revealed.
