KV 9 is the grandest tomb in the Valley of the Kings and most decorated. Started by Ramses V and finished by Ramses VI this tomb is massive with 117m long shafts and walls covered in intricate decoration. Tutankhamun’s tomb was preserved until 1922 because the tomb of Ramses VI was built right next to it and hid the entrance. KV 9 was originally commissioned for Ramses V (1147-1143 BC) and continued by Ramses VI (1143-1136 BC).
