God Sobek is the patron god of the Egyptian army and the Pharaoh. Sobek worship goes back to the Old Kingdom and his name is in the Pyramid Texts the oldest known ancient Egyptian religious texts. In the Unas Pyramid Texts Pharaoh Unas is described as Sobek with the green feather with the face of a watchful one with the brow lifted.
Sobek is wife varies by region Hathor Renenutet, Heqet and Tawaret are some of the goddesses associated with him. Sobek is also sometimes the father of Khonsu Khnum or Horus.
Sobek is sometimes the son of Neith, the goddess who gave birth to her children without a partner. Other traditions say Seth is his father and some say Sobek emerged from the primeval waters of Nun.
One myth says Sobek the crocodile god created the world, and the Nile was formed from his sweat. This association with the Nile also links Sobek to fertility, as he is said to make the land fertile. Another myth says Sobek created the world by laying eggs on the banks of Nun’s waters.
